Safeguarding: Your responsibilities

Safeguarding Children, Young Adults and Adults at Risk/Vulnerable adults

All of your patients need to be confident that they can visit your practice and use your services safely whatever their needs. Medical staff are in a position and have a duty to, help protect children, young adults, and vulnerable adults from abuse.

Safeguarding training is a must-have. For your staff, it’s a valuable, transferable skill with major professional development (CPD) positives. Learning about safeguarding also brings personal rewards.

Safeguarding: Your responsibilities

Safeguarding is a key priority for the CQC - Care Quality Commission (Healthcare Inspectorate Wales is the Welsh equivalent), the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

It is a recommended area of CPD training in the General Dental Council’s (GDC) Continuing Professional Development for Dental Professionals programme. The GDC’s CPD programme is a mandatory requirement of your GDC registration, without which no dental professional can practice in the UK.

Safeguarding Children, Young Adults, and Vulnerable Adults Course

Rosette CPD’s Safeguarding Children, Young Adults and Vulnerable Adults course, will equip you with the information you will need to deliver services safely and to help protect potentially vulnerable patients and other adults at risk.

Like all Rosette CPD courses, this is comprehensive, well-researched, professional in-house training delivered by Maggie Heath, a professional healthcare trainer of more than 10 years’ experience.

This is an important, complex, evolving and sensitive area of healthcare practice and one you need to get right. Practical advice and real-life examples help bring this difficult subject to life and equip you and your team to deal with safeguarding issues with confidence.

The Rosette CPD course covers:

Safeguarding: defining the term, and how it applies in healthcare settings.

Different types and forms of abuse, and how to recognise abuse.

The law and the legal responsibilities of healthcare professionals.

How to report suspected abuse.

Where to find guidance and advice with safeguarding issues.

Safeguarding requirements in primary dental care.

A discussion of possible safeguarding scenarios.

After the course you will:

Be able to help support everybody in living a life free from abuse or neglect.

Be able to respond appropriately to evidence of or concerns about abuse.

Report 3-3.5 hours of verifiable CPD training towards GDC CPD requirements.

Show verifiable, certificated proof to your patients that you take the safety, dignity and human rights of all your patients seriously.
