Health and Safety with Manual Handling

Health and Safety with Manual Handling
Alongside the paramount duty of care to patients in healthcare, your practice also has legally regulated duties to provide safe working conditions for your team. Health and safety with manual handling training from Rosette CPD will help to meet your legal and regulatory requirements and support you and your team in working safely.
Good health and safety procedures make your practice a safer place to work. Manual handling training gives good, transferable skills to your employees. Dental work is physically demanding: the most common reason for early retirement for health reasons among dentists found in research from 2010 was musculoskeletal disorders (MSD).
In healthcare settings where staff may need to provide physical help to patients and to operate equipment around vulnerable people, good health and following safety practices, help protect patients.
Rosette CPD delivers comprehensively-researched, up-to-date training courses in a wide range of specialist dental and healthcare subjects. These courses deliver all the information you need to meet legal and regulatory requirements, and give you and your team practical advice for real-life situations.
Rosette CPD’s courses deliver in-house training to your specifications. Presented by Maggie Heath, a specialist healthcare CPD trainer with more than 10 years’ experience of delivering continuing professional development (CPD) training to dental and healthcare professionals, they are engaging, useful and hands-on.
Health and Safety with Manual Handling: Your Duties and the Law
As well as specialist regulation for healthcare and dental practices, health and safety in a medical practice is governed by the same legislation that covers all workplaces.
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act of 1974 sets a general duty for employers to “ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees.”
Further legislation adds duties to make a risk assessment (The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999: Regulation 3); a duty that applies to risks to both employees and anyone who may be affected by your work.
Manual handling is covered specifically by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, as amended in 2002 (‘the Regulations’), which puts duties on employers to protect employees from injury a work.
